Our youth hockey is structured for beginner to experienced skaters to learn the game of inline hockey while focusing on shooting, passing, skating, and stick handling. The IIHL program is open to players of all ages and abilities, and strongly encourages player development. Players learn teamwork, exhibit sportsmanship and exercise in a nonstop fast-paced yet safe environment. In the end our experienced, passionate coaches see success by the fun kids are having on the rink.

Learn to Skate Inline Hockey
4 – 6 YRS

For kids who want to play hockey, our Instructional Youth Inline Hockey League is the perfect place to start! Our league provides a fun and pressure-free environment for kids to develop their skills, make new friends, and build confidence on and off the ice. We offer age-appropriate training for kids who are just starting out and don’t have a team to play with yet. All of our coaches are staff members who are passionate about teaching and sharing their love of hockey with kids. Join our instructional program today and discover the joy of playing hockey!
Spring Session Starts April 4th
The program evaluates kids’ skating skills in the first week and groups them accordingly. The following weeks focus on different skills such as stops and turns, positioning, passing drills, and mini hockey games, culminating in full rink games.

WEEKLY OBJECTIVES
Week 1 – 15min Skate evals for all kids. This will help group them to whatever section they need. Once in proper groups they will do drills that fit their skill level.
Weeks 2-3 – Stops and turns. Run drills on stopping and turning. incorporate games like freeze tag into drills for the last 20 minutes.
Week 4 – Re- evaluate skill levels. Put kids in proper sections. 20 minutes of drills followed by 20 minutes of games like dodgeball etc.
Weeks 5 – 7 – positioning and intro with pucks.
Passing drills weeks 8 – 9 – Re- evaluate groups and break into mini hockey games with coaches.
Week 10 – obstacle course followed by passing games and end with mini hockey games.
Week 11- full rink games and medal ceremony

What equipment do we need?
- Hockey Helmet (with cage)
- Hockey Gloves
- Elbow Pads
- Roller hockey skates (no back brake)
- Roller hockey pants
- Hockey shin guards (full leg)
- Stick
When will we get the schedule?
- We utilize a rolling schedule release for all league games. Game 1 will be released 1-week prior to the first weekend of games. Games 2-11 are released after the first game to make sure we have teams in appropriate divisions. Game 12 is your playoff game and will be released once standings have been set.
How do I find the schedule?
- Schedules can be found by logging into your online account and navigating to to your dashboard. On the main screen under “My Enrollments,” select view team. All your team information including schedules, standings, and roster will appear.
- You can also download the DaySmart Recreation app from your app store to get your schedule, register for future seasons, and pay any league fees.
How do I request a certain team or to play with a certain friend?
- During the final stages of the registration process, there will be a text box to enter this information.
The practice lists two practice days. Can we come to both?
- No. Each customer is to select one day they plan to attend practices.
What age group does my child fit in? Effective for January 2026 Session.
